Grass & Bamboo Wall CoveringWallPaper is in? No, Wall Coverings are in. Yes, the old vinyl wallpapers with large floral prints are still available and still giving wall coverings a bad name. More and More options are becoming available to add texture and fun, touchable surfaces to your home creating warm and contemporary environments. Think grasses, suede, silks, mettalics, even cork and bamboo. All are available and will add unique touches to your home. Use these materials to further enhance accents walls. For example; behind the Masterbed headboard, above a fireplace mantle, or on a focal wall under a soffit. The natural materials will create a unique warmth and connection to nature. The photo shown here is a woven grass wall covering by Phillip Jeffries.

Pictures Can Be Deceiving

Filed under: Uncategorized — Spencer @ 6:53 pm

When looking for inspiration in magazines it’s important to remember that pictures can be manipulated.  While that hip contemporary living room can be great inspiration, it could also include textures, lighting and materials that can appear fake and “plastic like” in you décor.  Magazine and TV images are great inspiration but remember, it is the final and personal touches that can make or break your space, and those final touches aren’t always displayed in a photo or on TV.

Centerpieces - Adding A Unique Touch

Filed under: Home Decorating Idea — Nicole Fraise @ 8:01 am
Home Decorating Idea - Fruit CenterpiecesUsually when we need to add a softer touch to a room or dining table set, we add flowers. I love adding flowers to any decor. They add sophistication, a splash of color, and a touch of toughtfulness. My favorite thing to do with a fresh bouquet whether it’s home grown or sent via UPS, is put them in a clear glass vase with a mouth big enough to add fruit to the bottom. In a wide mouthed, big bottom vase, try the beautiful, and suble pear. Cranberries offer a great splash of color in taller, skinnier vases. Go to the grocerey store, see what’s on sale, and get creative. Fruit replaces the need for clear marbles or river rocks that many people use to hold stems in place and add interest to your arrangement. *Tip* try to use a fruit with a tough skin.

Home Accessories - Turning Heads

Filed under: Accessories — Nicole Fraise @ 11:10 pm

Home Accessories SculptureThis unique art peice has so much decorating potential. Where do I begin? It’s a modern day self-portrait that is unassuming, unique, and powerful. Place it in a light source and see your silouhette in light instead of shadows. Inspired by a fathers desire to capture the likeness of his daughter, the Pirolettes, designed by Tom Beshara, still make a great baby gift that will be enjoyed for years. They also make fun wedding gifts, as each peice is as unique as the two that are geting married. Pirolettes come in several different wood colors and two styles. Decor Idea - Scatterback Your Sofa

Filed under: Home Decorating Idea — Nicole Fraise @ 5:19 pm

Scatterback SofaGive your sofa a makeover! No, I don’t mean go buy an expensive slip cover that “slips” off constantly and somehow makes your old sofa look frumiper. You can revitalize your old sofa for at least a few more good years with this simple trick. Remove all of the back pillows and replace them with big, overstuffed, colorful pillows. Don’t buy all of the same color- be bold and buy a few complimenting colors that will ork with your sofa color. Try to find fun patterns and textures. The fun part about this no-time-snazz-up is you will now see more potential in your old sofa. Change out the pillows with the seasons and have a new look every few months.
